Google to build first AI hub in India, invest $15 billion; Sundar Pichai announces

Google has announced that it will invest approximately $15 billion over the next five years to build an AI hub in India, including a data center in Visakhapatnam.

 

Google CEO Sundar Pichai made a major announcement on Tuesday (October 14) that an Artificial Intelligence ( AI) hub will be built in India. The company will invest $15 billion to support this initiative. Pichai stated that he has spoken with Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding this matter. A large data center and AI hub will be built in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, with a specific plan.

 

Sundar Pichai also shared a post about this on the social media platform X. He wrote, "It was a wonderful experience speaking with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We shared plans for Google's first AI hub, to be built in Visakhapatnam. This will be a historic step. This hub will include gigawatt-scale computing capacity, a new international subsea gateway, and large-scale energy infrastructure."

 

Google to invest Rs 1,331.85 billion in India.

Google is planning to invest $15 billion in India. This is nothing short of a jackpot for the country. India will benefit significantly from this. This $15 billion, translated into Indian currency, is equivalent to ₹1,331.85 billion.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

What did the Google Cloud CEO say about AI Hub?

Speaking at a Google event, Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said the new AI hub will integrate AI infrastructure, new data center capacity, larger power sources, and an expanded optical fiber network, PTI reported. "We plan to invest US$15 billion over the next five years to establish an AI hub in Visakhapatnam," Kurian said.

This will be Google's first AI hub. It will also provide opportunities for Indian AI engineers. Thomas Kurian stated during the event that Google has been operating in India for the past 21 years and that more than 14,000 Indians are associated with it.
