Google has made it fun; even older phones will get the iPhone's AirDrop feature, sharing data in a jiffy.

Google has now rolled out AirDrop support for the Pixel 9 series as well. This means Pixel 9 users will now be able to share data with iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks via AirDrop.

The Pixel 9 series now also supports AirDrop.

Google has made Android users happy. Last year, the company added support for Apple's AirDrop feature to its Pixel 10 devices. This change made data sharing between Android phones and iPhones easier. Now, this feature is being rolled out to the Pixel 9 phones as well. This means that Pixel 9 series phone users will also be able to transfer data from their iPhones via AirDrop. Google has announced that the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold will also support Apple's AirDrop feature.

Google has stated that this feature has begun rolling out today and will be rolled out to all users over the next few weeks. However, the Pixel 9a has been excluded from this rollout, and Google has not explained why. It should be noted that the company will gradually expand AirDrop support to all Android smartphones.

How to set up?

To use AirDrop on Pixel 9 series phones, you'll first need to update your phone's software and the Quick Share extension. Next, if you want to send data from your Pixel device to your iPhone, iPhone users will need to set AirDrop's visibility to "Everyone for 10 minutes." This will establish a connection and allow for easy data sharing. Google stated that this update will make it easier to share high-resolution data from the Pixel 9 to iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks.

Data transfer will be completely secure.

Google says that privacy and speed are its priorities, and has added multiple layers of protection to the system to ensure shared files remain completely secure. This feature uses a direct, peer-to-peer connection, eliminating the need for a server to share files.
