EPF Interest Credit 2026: The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has started crediting 8.25% annual interest for the financial year 2025-26 into EPF accounts. While many subscribers have already received SMS confirmations, others may still be waiting. If your interest has not appeared yet, here's how you can check your EPF balance and interest status using official EPFO services.
EPFO Begins Crediting 8.25% Interest for FY 2025-26
The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation has initiated the process of depositing 8.25% annual interest into EPF accounts for the financial year 2025-26.
The interest credit process reportedly began on July 15, 2026 and is being carried out in phases. As a result, not every subscriber will see the updated balance on the same day.
Many members have already received SMS alerts confirming that interest has been credited, while others may need to wait until their accounts are processed.
Don't Worry If Your Interest Is Still Not Visible
If your EPF passbook has not yet been updated, it does not necessarily mean that your interest has been missed.
Since EPFO processes millions of accounts, interest is credited in batches over a period of time. Your balance will be updated once your account is included in the next processing cycle.
Instead of waiting for an SMS notification, members can verify the status themselves using EPFO's official online and mobile services.
How to Check EPF Interest Through the EPFO Passbook
The EPFO Member Passbook is the easiest way to verify whether interest has been credited.
Follow these steps:
- Visit the EPFO Unified Member Portal.
- Open the Member Passbook section.
- Log in using your Universal Account Number (UAN) and password.
- Select your EPF account.
Your passbook will display:
- Opening balance
- Employee contribution
- Employer contribution
- PF transfer entries
- Interest credited
- Closing balance
If the annual interest has been credited, it will appear as a separate entry in your passbook.
Check Your PF Balance Through Missed Call
EPFO also offers a free missed call facility.
Steps:
- Give a missed call to 011-22901406 using your registered mobile number.
- The call disconnects automatically.

Why Hasn't Your EPF Interest Been Credited Yet?
There can be several reasons why your updated balance is not visible immediately.
Common reasons include:
- EPFO credits interest in multiple batches.
- Millions of member accounts are processed gradually.
- Your account may still be waiting for processing.
- Passbook updates can take some time after the actual interest calculation.
In most cases, no action is required from the subscriber.
Will a Delay Reduce Your EPF Interest?
No.
A delay in displaying the updated balance does not reduce the amount of interest you earn.
Under the provisions of the EPF Scheme, 1952, interest is calculated on eligible monthly balances throughout the financial year.
Although the interest entry may appear later in your account, members remain entitled to the full 8.25% annual interest declared for FY 2025-26, subject to EPFO rules.
Keep Your UAN Updated
To avoid problems while checking your EPF balance or receiving account updates, ensure that your UAN is active and linked with:
- Aadhaar
- PAN
- Bank account
- Registered mobile number
Keeping these details updated helps members access all EPFO online services without difficulty.
