Almost a year after this historic achievement of Vaibhav, a new record has been created for the youngest player to debut in the Women's Premier League (WPL 2026). 16-year-old Deeya Yadav achieved this feat while debuting in the match played between the Mumbai Indians and the Delhi Capitals in Vadodara on Tuesday, 20 January. With this, this young batsman, playing for Delhi, has registered her name in the record books of WPL.

In the November 2025 auction for the WPL 2026, Diya Yadav caught everyone's attention when she was purchased by the Delhi Capitals for a base price of ₹10 lakh (approximately $1.5 million). This made her the youngest player to be purchased in the WPL auction. However, her debut was awaited, which didn't happen in the opening matches of the WPL 2026 season. However, after three losses in the first four matches, the Delhi Capitals finally gave young batsman Diya Yadav a chance.

The 13th match of WPL 2026 saw the Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals clash. In this match, Delhi Capitals included right-handed batsman Diya Yadav in the playing eleven for the first time. With this, Diya Yadav, who debuted at just 16 years and 103 days old, became the youngest player in the WPL. In this regard, Diya broke the record held by G. Kamalini, who debuted in the WPL 2025 season at the age of 16 years and 213 days. Coincidentally, just before Diya's debut, Kamalini was ruled out of WPL 2026 due to injury, and in her place, Mumbai Indians included 20-year-old Vaishnavi Sharma in the squad. Vaishnavi also made her debut in this match.
