Diwali Celebration: Texas Governor Abbott has been hosting the Diwali celebration since 2018. Every year, the Indian-American community comes together to celebrate Diwali through this event.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott hosted the Diwali 2025 celebration at the Governor's Mansion. Each year, the Indian-American community comes together to celebrate the festival of lights. Sunday's event was attended by Manjunath, Consul General of India in Houston, D.C., prominent members of the Indian-American community, and elected officials.

Governor Abbott and First Lady Cecilia Abbott joined guests to light the lamp, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. Extending his best wishes on the occasion, the Governor praised the Indian-American community for their contributions to the state's progress, innovation, and diversity.

Consul General Manjunath thanked Governor Abbott for his continued support and recognition of Indian culture. He said that such events promote understanding and strengthen friendship between India and the United States.

 

The Consul General further said that the Diwali celebrations at the Governor's Mansion have become an annual tradition in Texas, showcasing the inclusive spirit of the state and the vibrant presence of the Indian-American community in various sectors.

For your information, Governor Abbott has been hosting the Diwali celebrations since 2018. He did not host it in 2020 because the event was not held due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
