Nowadays the craze of fitness is increasing and people are resorting to more workouts and dieting to lose weight quickly. But this haste can sometimes prove fatal. One such shocking case has come to light, where a 30-year-old gym trainer tried to lose 10 kg of weight in just 15 days and had to suffer the consequences in the form of paralysis.

According to TOI, a gym trainer from Delhi worked hard on himself to lose weight quickly. Due to intense workouts and strict diet plan, he lost 10 kgs in 15 days, but suddenly his right leg got paralyzed. Panicked, he immediately rushed to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), where doctors found him suffering from 'Slimmer's Paralysis'.

What is Slimmer's Paralysis?

According to Dr Vivek Shankar, Additional Professor, Department of Orthopedics, AIIMS, this is a rare condition in which the fat in the legs is lost due to excessive weight loss. This puts pressure on the nerves, which affects the movement and sensitivity of the lower leg, toes and fingers. He said that this is a rare case, but it is possible that many such cases have not been reported. Excessive workout in the gym can be dangerous, which can lead to shoulder bone dislocation, back pain, neck pain and hip joint problems.

Excessive workout can cause these serious problems

Doing heavy workouts for a long time can damage the bones and joints of the body.

Rapid weight loss can weaken the muscles and cause cramps.

Excessive dieting and strenuous workouts can cause hormonal changes, which have a negative effect on the body.

Sudden weight loss can put extra pressure on the heart, which can cause imbalance in blood pressure and heartbeat.

How to lose weight safely?

Take a balanced diet- Do not cut calories too much, but eat nutritious food.

Adopt the right method of exercise- Workout only after consulting an expert and exercise according to the body's tolerance.

Take adequate rest- It is very important to give recovery time to the body, so get proper sleep.

Consult a doctor- If you feel any kind of weakness or pain, contact the doctor immediately.
