Recalling those days, she told that her songs 'Dum Maaro Dum' and 'Piya Tu Ab To Aaja' were banned on All India Radio at that time.
The song 'Dum Maaro Dum' from Dev Anand's 1971 film 'Hare Krishna Hare Ram' caused a lot of controversy over the scenes of smoking and hippie culture. Although the intention behind showing these in the song was to criticize them, some people felt that it glamorized them. This song was written by Majrooh Sultanpuri and he himself was present in the studio during the recording. Asha Bhosle told that when he heard its lyrics during the recording, he was so embarrassed that he left the studio. In a conversation with a channel, Asha Bhosle told that once she got angry with RD Burman i.e. Pancham Da on the fact that why does he give her such bold and sensual songs to sing. Whereas all the soft songs are given to her sister Lata Mangeshkar.
In a conversation with Republic Bharat, Asha Bhosle revealed that she had once resented RD Burman, fondly called Pancham Da, for constantly giving her bold songs to sing while all the soft songs were given to her sister and iconic singer Lata Mangeshkar. Asha Bhosle was married to RD Burman.
