Many people purchase SIM cards using fake documents and then use them to defraud others. This is a very serious matter, and action will now be taken against those who do so. Obtaining a SIM card or any telecommunications service through fraud, using fake documents, or using someone else's identity is a serious and punishable offense. Those found guilty in such cases will now face severe punishment.

Those who purchase SIM cards using fake documents now face up to three years in prison, a fine of up to ₹5 million, or both. Furthermore, the government has clarified that attempting, aiding, and abetting such crimes will also be punishable according to the law. The government has issued this significant decision, taking into account the potential for fraud against citizens and other serious crimes.  

Never make these mistakes with your SIM card.
Never give your SIM card to anyone else for use. If you do so, there's a high chance your SIM card will be misused. If your SIM card is misused or someone is defrauded using your SIM card, you could be charged with a felony.

Some people may even fall prey to scammers trying to replace their SIM cards. This allows scammers to hack your phone or bank account and extort money from you. So, always remember to contact authorized telecom companies if you want to purchase a new SIM card or replace your SIM card. Purchasing a new SIM card or replacing an old SIM card from someone you don't know can be very dangerous.

Never give your phone or SIM card to anyone else to insert it into their phone. Nowadays, people are being scammed by duplicate SIM cards. This could lead to someone creating a clone of your SIM card, meaning they could create a SIM card that looks identical to yours, and then misuse it.

If there's a problem with your SIM card, always call customer service. Many people don't do this, making them vulnerable to fraud. If you forget where you left your SIM card, someone else could misuse it. This could result in fines or even imprisonment. Therefore, always be vigilant about your SIM card.
