Kolkata Flight Ticket: The price of Delhi-Kolkata flight tickets has risen sharply due to the West Bengal elections in 2026. Due to the increased demand, fares have reached up to 30,000 rupees.

Flight ticket prices skyrocket due to elections.
Delhi to Kolkata Flight Price Surge: As the 2026 West Bengal Assembly Elections draw near, flight fares from Delhi to Kolkata are seeing a surge. This is because many Delhi residents are returning to their hometowns to cast their votes. This has led to a sudden increase in ticket demand. Consequently, those booking tickets at the last minute are facing higher prices.
Speaking of the elections, the Election Commission of India is conducting elections for the 294-seat assembly in two main phases. Voting will take place on April 23 and April 29, with the results being declared on May 4, 2026.
Why have flight ticket prices increased?
The biggest reason for this increase in flight prices from Delhi to Kolkata is the sudden increase in demand. Fares for this route typically range between ₹5,000 and ₹7,000.
Due to the elections, a large number of people are returning to their cities. Airlines are increasing fares to meet demand. Consequently, tickets have become more expensive than usual.
Today's flight fares
Flight fares from Delhi to Kolkata are seeing a sharp increase. Today, April 23rd, a non-stop flight ticket has reached nearly ₹32,000. Fares for some other flights have reached ₹36,000. Overall, ticket prices remain high, impacting travelers' pockets.
April 24 rent
Flight fares have increased significantly since the start of the elections. On April 24th, ticket prices hovered around ₹13,000 to ₹24,000, with fares reaching ₹32,000 for some non-stop flights. Overall, prices remain high due to high demand.
Prices are expected to increase next week as well.
The second phase of voting in West Bengal is scheduled for April 29th, so flight tickets for the day immediately preceding it, April 28th, are not cheap either. The fare for a flight from Delhi to Kolkata on that day has reached nearly ₹15,000, while on some flights it remains around ₹13,000.
