Champions Trophy: The selection committee for the Champions Trophy has recently selected a 15-member team squad led by Rohit Sharma. Before the team squad selected for the Champions Trophy, the Indian team had to face a crushing defeat in the Test series on the Australia tour. After which now the selection committee is considering making big changes in the Indian team in the Test format.
After which now reports are coming in the media that the selection committee is going to give the responsibility of Team India's new Test captain to a player whom the team's head coach Gautam Gambhir does not see as the captain of the team.
Test captaincy is going to be taken away from Rohit Sharma
The Indian team has played very poorly in recent times under the leadership of Team India captain Rohit Sharma. First, the team had to face a clean sweep for the first time in history on Indian soil and after that, under the leadership of captain Rohit Sharma, Team India also had to face a 1-3 defeat in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. After which there are reports that the selection committee and BCCI may decide to take away the captaincy of the Test format from Rohit Sharma.
The board does not agree on Jasprit Bumrah becoming the next captain
At present, Jasprit Bumrah is playing the responsibility of vice-captaincy in Test cricket for Team India. Jasprit Bumrah also played the responsibility of captaincy for Team India in the first and last matches of the Border Gavaskar Trophy, but despite that the board does not want to give Jasprit Bumrah the responsibility as the next captain in the Test format. This is because Jasprit Bumrah needs rest to manage most of the workload, so in such a situation the board is looking for some other option in his place.
Agarkar wants to make Rishabh the captain by going against Gambhir
Selection committee head Ajit Agarkar wants to go with Rishabh Pant as the next captain of the Test format, but Team India's head coach Gambhir wants to go with Yashasvi Jaiswal as the next captain. In such a situation, if Rishabh Pant becomes the next Test captain of Team India, then this decision will be taken against the wishes of head coach Gautam Gambhir.
