Opposition's dissent notes removed from Waqf report: AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi has targeted the JPC chief over the entire episode in the JPC regarding the Waqf Amendment Bill. Owaisi said, 'His detailed dissent note on the report of the Joint Committee on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill was removed by the committee chairman Jagdambika Pal without his knowledge. Committee member Owaisi had given a 231-page dissent note on this report, which was recently submitted to the Lok Sabha Speaker.

My disagreement was not accepted

He accused the chairman of misusing the rules of procedure to change the dissent note given in connection with the report. Owaisi wrote on 'X', "I had submitted a detailed dissent note to the joint committee against the Wakf Amendment Bill. It is shocking that parts of my note were edited without my knowledge. The sections that were removed were not controversial; they only stated facts."

He said, 'The report (of the committee) was prepared as per the report that chairman Jagdambika Pal wanted, but why was the voice of the opposition suppressed? Since they have misused a rule to change my report, I will soon release my full dissent note for the public to read.' The Joint Committee of Parliament on the Wakf (Amendment) Bill accepted this report on the draft bill by a majority of 15 against 11. Opposition members submitted dissent notes on the report.
