According to the latest data from AIIMS Delhi, 4,843,572 patients availed of outpatient services during 2024-25. This number is considered a major achievement in itself.
AIIMS Delhi, the country's most prestigious government hospital, has created history in patient treatment. Data from the past year shows that the number of patients seeking treatment has broken all previous records. Not only the number of patients, but also the number of beds and admissions have seen significant increases, reflecting the expansion of healthcare services.
Over 48 lakh patients treated in OPD, statistics set a new record
According to the latest data from AIIMS Delhi, 48,43,572 patients availed of OPD services during the year 2024-25. This number is considered a major achievement in itself. This achievement is also significant for the hospital administration because handling such a large number of patients is a major challenge for any institution.
IPD also jumped, 3.61 lakh patients were admitted
Not only OPD patients, but also the number of inpatient patients has seen a significant increase. In 2024-25, 361,236 patients were admitted and treated. This demonstrates the growing trust in AIIMS, even for serious cases.
332 new beds added in two years, infrastructure expanded
The hospital's infrastructure has steadily improved over the past three years, with a projected total bed capacity of 3,657 by 2024-25. Within two years, 332 new beds were added, a significant step in response to the growing patient population.
OPD load increased by 13.81 percent in two years
Comparing 2022-23 with 2024-25, an additional 587,771 patients were treated in OPDs. This represents an increase of approximately 13.81 percent. This level of increase in such a short period reflects both the growing demand for healthcare services and the institution's capacity.
Nearly a 29 percent jump in admitted patients
The number of patients admitted for treatment has seen an even sharper increase. While 280,770 patients were admitted to IPDs in 2022-23, this figure will rise to 361,236 in 2024-25. This represents an increase of 80,466 patients in two years, representing an increase of approximately 28.65 percent. This increase is estimated to be close to one-third.
Why has the AIIMS model become an example of trust across the country?
Today, approximately 22 AIIMS institutes operate in different parts of the country. The Delhi-based AIIMS's work ethic and reliable services have made it a benchmark institution. People from all corners of the country come here hoping for treatment. Especially for the economically weaker sections, this institute is considered a last resort. People believe that timely treatment at AIIMS can cure a patient. This trust and hope motivate the doctors and health workers here to continuously improve their performance. This results in better treatment for people, and this is why patients and their families increasingly gravitate towards AIIMS.
