It states that Pippali found in India has a chemical compound called Piperlongumine which helps in killing cancer cells. It also kills cells of different types of tumors, one of which is brain tumor. The study states that Pippali is also effective on the most dangerous form of brain cancer, glioblastoma.
Pippali has been mentioned not only in Ayurveda, which is popular in Greece but also in Unani and Siddha systems of medicine. The fruits and roots of this plant are used the most. The roots and the thick parts of the stem are cut and dried and hence Ayurveda calls it Peepalmool.

It is said that taking 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon with honey or hot water is beneficial and if there is cough and cold and there is difficulty in swallowing the powder, then boiling Pipramul and drinking it is also beneficial.
