Eighth Pay Commission: Fraudsters are sending a WhatsApp message to central employees claiming that they can immediately assess their revised salary under the Eighth Pay Commission.

This big update has come on the Eighth Pay Commission.
Eighth Pay Commission Updates: Nearly 10 million central government employees and pensioners are eagerly awaiting the Eighth Pay Commission. Taking advantage of this excitement, cyber fraudsters are running a new WhatsApp scam. According to reports, fraudsters are sending WhatsApp messages to central government employees claiming they can immediately assess their revised salaries under the Eighth Pay Commission. A link is provided, and by clicking on it, they are asked to download an APK file.
How is the fraud happening?
At first glance, it appears to be a simple salary calculator, but it's actually dangerous malware. Once the user downloads the APK file, the attackers gain remote access to the mobile device. They can steal sensitive data from your phone. They can also access banking apps, OTPs, and passwords to withdraw money from your bank account.
Officials warn that users often don't immediately realize they've been scammed. By the time they realize it, the money has already been withdrawn from their accounts.
What did the government say?
The government has issued a public warning to be wary of such suspicious WhatsApp messages and links. Any official information related to the Eighth Pay Commission will be released only through the government website or authorized channels.
What to do, what not to do?
✔ Do not click on any unknown link.
✔ Do not download APK files from WhatsApp or social media.
✔ Download the app from Google Play Store/Apple App Store only.
✔ Do not share banking details, OTP, or password with anyone.
✔ If you notice any suspicious activity, immediately report it to the bank and the cybercrime helpline (1930).
Overall, the excitement surrounding the Eighth Pay Commission is understandable, but cybercriminals are taking advantage of this. The best defense is to remain vigilant.
