A disturbing incident has come to light in Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh, where a groom, on his wedding night, showed his bride a picture of his girlfriend and told her that he did not find her attractive. The groom, identified as Danish Malik, allegedly told his bride, Hina Malik, that he had married her only for the honor of his family. He then threatened to break off the marriage, demanding 20 lakh rupees from her family if she wished to maintain their relationship.

When Hina refused to comply with his demand, the groom reportedly beat her and forcibly threw her out of their house. The bride has since filed a complaint against her husband and his family at the Bulandshahr Kotwali Dehat Police Station. The police have registered the case and begun their investigation.

The incident occurred after Hina’s marriage to Danish on December 5, 2022. The two had performed the traditional Nikah, and during the Mooh Dikhai (the post-wedding ritual where the bride is shown to the groom’s family), the groom allegedly told her that he did not like her face. He then showed her a picture of a girl named Muskaan, claiming she was his girlfriend with whom he had been in a relationship for five years. Danish reportedly stated that the marriage was done out of respect for the family, not out of love.

Despite the emotional distress, Hina endured the mistreatment, hoping her husband would eventually change. She also revealed that her family had spent about 30 lakh rupees on the wedding and she did not feel she could ask for more money from them. However, the situation escalated when Danish continued to demand 20 lakh rupees as dowry.

Hina, who has been living with her parents since the incident, said that despite her hopes for reconciliation, Danish remained firm on his dowry demand. She also mentioned that when her family could not meet his financial demands, she was beaten by Danish and his family. The police are now investigating the case and pursuing legal action against the accused individuals.
