Currently, there aren't any mobile phones available on the market with a 7-inch screen size, but that will change soon. Two companies have begun working on mobile phones with screens larger than 7 inches.

Smartphones have been growing in size over the past few years. The first iPhone, launched in 2007, had a 3.5-inch screen, while the latest iPhone 17 Pro Max boasts a 6.8-inch display. Similarly, screen sizes between 6-6.8 inches are common on Android phones. Almost all companies have kept the screen sizes of most of their smartphones in this range, but this is about to change. Phone displays are now expected to be comparable in size to older tablets.
Mobile displays will be larger than 7 inches
According to recent reports, two phone companies are working on larger displays, which could be larger than 7 inches. Displays of this size are currently found in foldable smartphones. In terms of non-foldable phones, Apple and Samsung are developing larger displays. Apple's iPhone 17 Pro Max features a 6.86-inch display, while Samsung's flagship Galaxy S26 Ultra, launching this month, is expected to feature a 6.89-inch display. With the advent of new technologies, companies will likely introduce even larger screens.
What will be the benefit of having a bigger screen size?
A larger display directly means a better viewing experience. This means users will enjoy watching web series, reels, and movies more. Another benefit will be battery capacity. As the display size increases, companies will be able to increase battery size, providing users with longer battery life. Looking back at the recent past, with the advent of silicon-carbon batteries, smartphones have come equipped with battery packs of up to 10,000mAh. Now, if companies are given the opportunity to expand their battery capacity further, smartphone battery capacity will increase even further.
