Why do Israeli youth come to India?
Why Israelis Visit India After Army Service: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is arriving in Israel on 25 February on a two-day visit. During this, he will meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog and will also address the Knesset. Let us tell you apart from this, why the people of Israel like to come to India so much, because every year, Himachal Pradesh hosts thousands of Israeli youth who come to India for a break for some time after completing their compulsory two-year military service. Their presence is so high in Dharmkot, a small village surrounded by the greenery of Dhauladhar, that people have now started calling it the 'Tel Aviv' of the mountains.
The arrival process begins in March.
Israeli tourists begin arriving in Himachal Pradesh in March, and their numbers continue to grow until October. After this, many leave for Goa. A young woman named Michal, who arrived in India after completing her military service, told the media that India is like a second home for Israelis. According to her, Israel has a deep fascination with India's culture, history, and people. Hebrew-language signs are common in Dharamkot, located about 13 kilometers from Dharamshala. There's also a four-story Chabad House, a major center for the Jewish community. Most of the village's guest houses are filled with Israeli tourists, and dishes like falafel and hummus are readily available in small restaurants.
Visiting Israel for spiritual solace
According to an HT report, Michael Alon, a visitor from Tel Aviv, says that Israel is primarily a country of cities and deserts, while the hills of Himachal provide him with spiritual solace. According to locals, Israelis typically live in groups and don't socialize much. They spend most of the day relaxing, chatting, and eating, while some venture out trekking on the quiet Himalayan trails. In the evening, many tourists gather at the Chabad House in the middle of the village. Kasol village in Kullu is also a favorite destination. Another Israeli tourist, Arya, says that they want to sing, dance, and enjoy the day and night, and these tranquil villages nestled in the lap of the Himalayas provide the ideal environment for this.
Why do soldiers like to come to India after training?
In an article published in TimesofIsrael, a soldier explained that India provides Israeli youth with mental peace, introspection, and a sense of levity after military service. They are drawn to the Israeli culture, spiritual atmosphere, the tranquility of the mountains, and the simplicity of the people. Away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, India offers them the opportunity to unburden themselves and see life from a new perspective. That's why they love coming to India.
