Sawan Amavasya 2025 Date: The holy month of Shravan is considered to be the best for the worship of Shiva. The Amavasya that falls in this month, along with all the festivals, is known as Hariyali Amavasya. Amavasya Tithi is considered to be fruitful for Mantra Siddhi, Pitra Karya, and Bath-Daan etc. According to the Panchang, the Amavasya date of Shravan month will start from 02:28 am on 24th July this year and will last till 12:40 am on 25th July 2025. What not to do on Shravan Amavasya 

In the Sanatan tradition, some rules have been given about Amavasya, not only in Shravan but also in other months. For example, auspicious works are prohibited on Amavasya. In such a situation, avoid any kind of auspicious work on this day. On this day, a person should not go to a dark place which has been deserted and closed for a long time. Similarly, one should not take used clothes, shoes or any other items on Amavasya. A person should avoid arguing with anyone on Amavasya. In the scriptures, cutting hair and nails on Amavasya is also prohibited. 

What to do on Shravan Amavasya 

• On the day of Shravan Amavasya, taking bath, meditating and making donations at a river or lake pilgrimage place etc. is considered extremely virtuous. 
• Planting trees and donating them on the new moon day of Shravan month is considered extremely auspicious. In such a situation, you can plant trees in the memory of your ancestors and receive their blessings on this day. 
• If there is Pitra Dosha in your horoscope, then you should perform Shradh for the ancestors and donate money and food etc. to the needy people in their name. 
• On the new moon day of Shravan month, feed fodder to the cow and serve it.
• On the day of Shravan Amavasya, bad things should be removed from the house and the whole house should be illuminated with diyas etc. On this day, definitely light a diya at the main entrance of the house. 
• To remove the inauspicious effects of Kaal Sarp Dosh in the horoscope, perform Rudra Abhishek with proper rituals on the day of Shravan Amavasya.
