According to the South China Morning Post, this injection was given to 5 patients at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in October 2024. Of the patients who were given this injection, one is 73 years old, the second is 71 years old, the third is 67 years old, the fourth is 15 years old and the fifth is 5 years old.
Scientists say that by February these patients felt a lot of relief. These patients were better than before. Scientists have also recorded the statements of these patients, in which the patients are telling their experiences.
According to cancer patient Lee Chung, this process took only a few minutes. Then gradually I started feeling relief. Now there is no pain and the disease is improving rapidly. Hong Kong scientists claim that after this improvement, CAR-T injection can prove to be a boon for cancer patients.
Cost of CAR-T injections
According to the report, this vaccine is still far beyond the reach of common people. If the side effects and other expenses are left out, the cost of the vaccine is only Rs 3 crore. This price is based on Hong Kong. This means that the price of this injection may increase further in other countries.
After administering the injection, the patient has to be kept in the ICU for 7 days. The side effects are treated separately. Not only this, this injection has been proven effective so far only in liver or lung cancer.
Status of this therapy in India
This therapy was started in India in 2023 from IIT Bombay. In India, patients are being treated with CAR-T therapy through Nexcar-19. This is a Made in India therapy. The central government is trying to provide vaccines to patients at a low cost through Made in India.
According to Nature magazine, the therapy India is working on could prove to be helpful in treating blood cancer.
