Nowadays people are becoming aware of fitness. But often people are not able to understand the difference between fat burn and calorie burn. Today in this article we will tell you the difference between fat burn and calorie burn, for which we have talked to Fariha Shanam, Senior Dietician of Gangaram Hospital.

In today's unhealthy and busy lifestyle, many people have become more aware about health. Losing weight, looking fit and staying healthy is no longer just a trend, but has become a necessity. Due to unhealthy eating, many people are struggling with the problem of increasing weight, to reduce which exercise and diet are resorted to. When starting a fitness journey, the two words heard most often are 'burning fat' and 'burning calories'.
Often people consider these two to be the same, but the truth is that these two things are definitely related to each other, but not at all the same. Many people think that if they burn 500 calories by exercising, then their body will also lose the same amount of fat. But this does not always happen. Actually, calories and fat - both have different functions in the body and the process of burning them is also different. Today in this article we will learn from the experts what is the difference between burning calories and fat.
What are calories?
Calories are a source of energy. Whatever work our body does, like walking, speaking, breathing, thinking or exercising, it needs energy i.e. calories. When we eat, the body gets calories from that food and when we do any activity, the body burns those calories.
What is fat burning?
Fat is a type of energy stored in our body, which we get from food. When we eat more oil, ghee, sweets or high calorie food than required and do not do enough hard work or physical activity, then the body stores the remaining energy in the form of fat. Fat burn means melting the body fat and converting it into energy, due to which our weight gradually starts decreasing and the body becomes fit and healthy.
What do the experts say?
Fariha Shanam, Senior Dietician at Gangaram Hospital, explains the difference between fat and calorie burn and says that there is not much difference between the two. Calorie burn means the activities we do throughout the day, such as walking, sitting, running, getting up, sleeping, eating, all these come under our calorie burn. That is, overall, whatever we do throughout the day helps in burning calories.
Regarding fat burn, dietician Fariha Shanam said that special exercise and diet is required to burn fat. Fat can accumulate in any part of the body, for which different types of workouts have to be done. Also, there is a need to take a diet which has less fat content. The expert further says that we need carbohydrates, protein and fat to burn calories. At the same time, when we talk about fat burn, fat is also targeted in it. For this, high intensity exercise is done. Regarding diet, Fariha Shanam said that by taking a healthy diet, you can burn both calories and fat.
