Bombay HC: This reprimand of the Supreme Court is in discussion. Experts clearly say that the courts should not only follow the legal provisions but also ensure that their decisions and comments do not violate the dignity and constitutional rights of any person, especially women.

Supreme Court on Bombay HC: The Supreme Court on Wednesday strongly objected to a comment by the Bombay High Court in which words like 'illegal wife' and 'faithful mistress' were used for a woman. The apex court termed it anti-women and said that such language is not only against constitutional values but also hurts the dignity of women. A bench of Justices Abhay S Oka, Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah and Justice Augustine George Masih criticized the decision of the Bombay High Court and said that the use of such words is completely inappropriate.
Violation of women's rights and dignity..
In fact, the Supreme Court said in its statement that declaring a woman's marriage invalid can be a legal process. But this does not mean that she should be called an 'illegal wife'. The court also harshly rejected the word 'faithful mistress' used in the 24th paragraph of the Bombay High Court. The apex court called it a violation of women's rights and dignity and said that the judiciary should be cautious in choosing its words, so that the dignity of any class is not hurt.
