Phillips, who is known for his long dives to take catches on the field, was seen flying a plane in New Zealand. He shared a video of himself flying the plane on his social media. Furthermore, the Kiwi player explained how he stopped short of becoming a pilot due to financial constraints.

Phillips shared a video on social media last Tuesday (March 17) in which he is seen landing the plane. The video truly shocked people. A few days earlier, Phillips had shared additional photos on social media in which he was seen interacting with students and instructors at the flying school.

 

Glenn Phillips was interested in becoming a pilot

Phillips was passionate about becoming a pilot and working in the aviation sector. According to India Today, Phillips said, "Yes, it's a huge passion of mine. If I weren't playing cricket and had all the money in the world since childhood, honestly, I probably would have become a pilot."

Phillips added, "I love being in the air. Ideally, I'd like to go to the mountains and not have to work at all, just enjoy all my hobbies. But if I still had to work, being a pilot would be my first choice."

Phillips will be seen in action in IPL 2026

Glenn Phillips will be seen playing for the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2026. The franchise retained Phillips for the upcoming season for ₹2 crore. However, it is worth noting that he last played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2023 IPL season. It will be interesting to see whether he can make it into the playing eleven in the upcoming season.
