'Virat should have been made the captain...' Demand for Kohli raised from England amid speculation of retirement

After the announcement of retirement from Test cricket by Rohit Sharma, who was the captain till a few months ago, a new captain is to be announced in Team India. Shubman Gill's name is leading in this race but in the meantime a demand has arisen to give this responsibility to former captain Virat Kohli again.

The biggest discussion in Indian cricket right now is about the legendary batsman Virat Kohli. After the retirement of former captain Rohit Sharma from Test cricket a few days ago, a similar claim is being made about Kohli. Some media reports have claimed that Kohli has decided to retire from Test cricket. Kohli's decision has come before next month's England tour, in which Team India will play with a new captain. While everyone is appealing to Kohli not to retire, former England cricketer Michael Vaughan has demanded to make him the captain.

The Indian team will start the new World Test Championship cycle with a Test series on the England tour in the month of June. But this time not only will a new cycle begin, but the era of a new captain is also expected to begin in Indian cricket. Rohit Sharma, who was the captain of the team till a few months ago, has retired from this format. In such a situation, the announcement of the new captain is awaited and it is believed that this responsibility can be given to young batsman Shubman Gill.

Make Gill the vice-captain for this tour

It is believed that the BCCI selection committee may also reveal the new captain in a press conference on 23 or 24 May at the time of announcing the team for the England tour, which is believed to be Gill. But even before this, former England captain Michael Vaughan has given a different suggestion. Vaughan posted on the social media platform 'X' on Sunday 11 May and talked about making Kohli the captain. He wrote, "If I were India (BCCI), I would give the captaincy to Virat for the Test series in England. Shubman Gill can be the vice-captain for this tour."

If I was India I would give the captaincy to Virat for the Test series in England.. Shubman Gill can be his VC for the tour.. #India 👍

Efforts to persuade Kohli

Michael Vaughan is often known for giving such strange suggestions. His statement has come especially at a time when Kohli is thinking about retirement from Tests. It is believed that ever since Virat has told the Indian Board and selectors about his intention, efforts are being made to persuade him. Considering the young and less experienced batsmen in Team India, Virat is being appealed to remain in the team at least till this tour.
