The Inaugural Event

On April 19, PM Modi will flag off the Vande Bharat Express at Katra in Jammu and Kashmir. This event will also be attended by prominent figures, including Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

Connecting Katra to the Kashmir Valley: A Game-Changer for Travel

The Vande Bharat Express will run through the Pir Panjal Mountain Range, linking Katra with Baramulla in North Kashmir, cutting down travel time and enhancing access to one of India’s most scenic regions.   • The 272 km USBRL project is a Rs 41,000 crore investment in the future of rail infrastructure in Jammu & Kashmir.
  • The project, developed in phases, is now nearing completion with sections already operational since 2009. With the addition of the Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat route, the rail link will be fully operational.
