UP School Timings Revised Due to Heatwave: Check New Schedules in These Districts

As temperatures continue to soar across North India, several districts in Uttar Pradesh have revised school timings to protect students from the scorching heat. Following the directives of district administrations, new schedules are now in place in various regions of the state. Here's what you need to know.

New Timings Announced in Prayagraj

In Prayagraj, where the heatwave has intensified, the District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar Mandad has ordered a change in school hours for classes 1 to 8 across all boards. As per BSA Praveen Kumar Tiwari, all schools will now open at 7:00 AM and close at 12:00 noon, effective from Wednesday.

Lucknow Implements New School Schedule

Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, has also revised school hours due to rising temperatures. As per the latest order issued by the District Magistrate, all schools up to class 12 will now operate from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM.

Other States Also Adjust School Timings

It's not just UP—other states are also taking preventive steps to safeguard students from the extreme weather:

  • Madhya Pradesh (Ujjain): Schools across all boards up to class 12 will function from 7:00 AM to 12:00 noon.
  • Bihar: Government-run primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools will now operate from 6:30 AM to 12:30 PM until June 1. Previously, schools functioned from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
  • Odisha: School timings have also been revised in view of the increasing heat, though specific hours vary by district.

Statewide Decision Still Pending

It is important to note that no uniform decision has been taken for the entire state of Uttar Pradesh. Each District Magistrate has been given the authority to modify school hours based on local weather conditions.

Parents, students, and school staff are advised to stay updated with local announcements and follow precautionary health measures as the heatwave persists.
