Kanpur train incident: Vande Bharat Express stopped in Kanpur due to a lehenga. The lehenga flying in the air got stuck in the OHE wire, due to which the train had to be stopped.

Vande Bharat Express Kanpur: Usually trains stop due to some technical fault or animals coming on the track, but have you ever heard that the country's fastest train Vande Bharat Express had to be stopped because of a lehenga? Yes, such a strange incident came to light in Kanpur, when a lehenga flying in the air got stuck directly in the overhead electric wire (OHE), due to which the train had to be stopped in an emergency situation.
How did Vande Bharat Express stop?
The incident happened with the Vande Bharat Express (22436) going from New Delhi to Varanasi. The train reached Kanpur Central station at 10:30 am and left for Prayagraj after some time. But as soon as the train reached Shanti Nagar crossing, the driver of the train noticed that some cloth was stuck in the OHE line and smoke was coming out from there. Seeing the situation, the driver immediately stopped the train and informed the control room.
Railway officials reached the spot
As soon as the control room got information about this incident, Kanpur Central Station Superintendent Awadhesh Trivedi immediately reached the spot with his team. The railway electric staff saw that a lehenga was stuck in the OHE wires, which probably flew from the roof of a house and got stuck there. There are many high-rise buildings near Shanti Nagar crossing, where people hang clothes out to dry. It is being speculated that due to strong wind, this lehenga flew and got stuck directly in the OHE line of the train.
The train stopped for 20 minutes, then the obstruction was removed
The railway's electric team immediately started the work of removing the lehenga from the OHE line. After a thorough check of the wires, when it was ensured that there was no other obstruction, the train was sent off again. This entire process lasted for about 20 minutes. Kanpur Central CTF Ashutosh Singh said,
“We received information that some cloth was stuck in the OHE line and smoke was coming out from there. Our team immediately reached the spot and removed it. The lehenga had flown due to the wind and got stuck in the wires, causing this problem.”
