In a dramatic moment that has gone viral online, a mother in Uttar Pradesh’s Hamirpur district took justice into her own hands — beating a man in broad daylight with her slippers after he allegedly molested her daughter.
The incident occurred in the Muskara area, where the woman confronted the accused, Shiv Kumar Sahu, on a public road and delivered over 20 swift blows with her footwear. Bystanders captured the confrontation on video, which has since exploded across social media, drawing strong public reactions and prompting police involvement.
Allegations of Repeated Harassment
Local sources say the accused had been harassing the girl for several days, and after the victim finally confided in her mother, the family tracked the man down and confronted him in public. The mother’s furious response — filmed by onlookers — showed her shouting at the man and beating him repeatedly, while he attempted to shield himself and pleaded for mercy.
Police Step In, But No FIR Yet
After the video went viral, the Muskara Police identified the man as a resident of Banda district and brought him in for questioning. However, authorities confirmed that no official complaint or FIR has yet been filed by the victim or her family.
“We have taken the accused into custody based on the viral video. The family has not come forward yet with a formal complaint. Further action will be taken once that happens,” said a police spokesperson.
Public Reactions Divided
The video has triggered a wave of reactions — many viewers applauded the mother’s courage and saw her act as a powerful stand against harassment. Others, however, pointed out the dangers of vigilante justice, questioning why law enforcement hadn’t acted sooner.
Despite the legal limbo, the incident has reignited a broader debate on women’s safety, delayed justice, and the limits of public outrage.
As the investigation continues, all eyes are now on whether the girl and her family will formally report the case — a step that could move the matter from viral video to criminal prosecution.
