In a rare and inspiring achievement, twin sisters from Surat, Gujarat, have drawn national attention by securing identical marks in their final MBBS examinations. Reeba and Rahin Hafeez, both 24 years old, graduated from GMERS Medical College, Vadodara, scoring 935 out of 1400 marks — a remarkable 66.8% — marking an exceptional moment in medical education.
What makes their achievement even more special is the fact that they are the first doctors in their family, having battled through financial hardships to reach this milestone. Raised by their single mother, Gulshad Banu, a school teacher, the twins credit her unwavering support and sacrifices for their success.
Always In Sync: Not Just in MBBS
Their academic journey has always run parallel. Reeba and Rahin not only studied together but have consistently scored similar marks throughout their education. In Class 10, Reeba scored 99%, while Rahin achieved 98.5%. In Class 12, they secured 98.2% and 97.3% respectively. Even in NEET UG, without any coaching, Reeba scored 97% and Rahin 97.7%.
“We’ve always studied together and ended up scoring similarly. It’s not just a coincidence — it's how we’ve grown up,” says Rahin.
Choosing Together, Staying Together
Despite getting admission offers from other government colleges like Jamnagar and Bhavnagar, the sisters chose GMERS Medical College in Gotri so they could stay together. The college’s proximity to their home in Surat and the opportunity to support each other away from home played a key role in their decision.
Future Plans and Community Pride
Belonging to the Sindhi Jamaati community, the sisters are among the few women from their background to enter the medical profession. Reeba is inclined towards internal medicine, while Rahin aspires to specialize in obstetrics and gynecology. They hope to continue their journey in the same postgraduate college.
“We owe everything to our mother and grandparents. They stood by us through thick and thin. Government scholarships and merit-based aid helped us pursue our dreams without financial burden,” says Reeba.
An Inspiration for Aspiring Doctors
The story of Reeba and Rahin Hafeez is more than a tale of academic excellence. It’s a powerful reminder of what resilience, unity, and support from family can achieve. As they step into the next phase of their medical careers, these twins are not just healing bodies — they are also inspiring hearts.
