How many apples were imported into India from Türkiye

Let us tell you, apples worth Rs 563 crore were sent from Turkey to India in 2021-22, Rs 739 crore in 2022-23 and Rs 821 crore in 2023-24. Apple imports from Turkey have been increasing continuously, due to which the Indian market was flooded with cheap and subsidized imported apples. This has had a direct impact on the income and market share of domestic orchardists.

 

 

Demand for Turkish apples drops by 50%

Turkish apples are very popular in India due to their quality and price. But in recent times, their boycott has increased. Due to which the demand has fallen by up to 50 percent. Due to the boycott, traders are now sourcing from Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Washington, Iran and New Zealand.

 

Turkey will suffer heavy losses

Due to this, Turkey will suffer huge losses. The demand for Turkish apples remains in the Indian markets even in the off season. If we talk about Indian apples, then they are available in abundance in some months of the year. But when it is off season, India's dependence on imported apples increases.
