Kanyakumari is a small city located at the southernmost tip of the Indian mainland, which is also called Cape Comorin in English. This place attracts a lot of tourists. To reach here by train, you can go to Kanyakumari Railway Station, if you want to go by road then choose National Highway-44, Trivandrum Airport of Kerala is about 89 km from here. This is the top tourist destination of Kanyakumari where Swami Vivekananda meditated here in the year 1892. A rock memorial was built in his memory in the year 1970. There is a meditation hall inside it which is called 'Dhyan Mandapam'. You can reach here via ferry.

Near the Vivekananda Rock Memorial is a huge statue of Thiruvalluvar (Thiruvalluvar Statue) which is 41 meters high, who was a famous Tamil poet and saint. This statue was inaugurated in the year 2000. This statue can be seen from a long distance.

Triveni Sangam is called by this name because here 3 oceans meet together, which include the Bay of Bengal, Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea. Here you can also enjoy the waves on Kanyakumari Beach.

Near the Triveni Sangam is the Gandhi Mandapam where the ashes of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi are kept. Here you can go for darshan from 7 am to 7 pm. There is no entry fee for this.

Bhagavathi Amman Temple is dedicated to 'Goddess Kanyakumari', also known as 'Kunwari Devi', after whom the city is named. You can visit here from 4:30 am to 12:15 pm and then from 4 pm to 8:15 pm.

Kanyakumari is one of those special places in the world where you can see the view of the sunset and sunrise in the sea, for this go to the View Tower. You will not have to spend much for entry here. This is a favorite place for those who are fond of photography.
