Seasonal closure: The doors of these Dhams are closed every year at the beginning of winter, usually reopening in March-April. This year, the doors of Baba Kedarnath were opened on May 10.

Pilgrimage statistics: Despite challenges like heavy rains and landslides, which delayed the Char Dham Yatra, around 40 lakh devotees have successfully visited the Char Dhams this season.

Baba Kedarnath Dham:

Closure date: November 3, 2023, 8:30 am.

Significance: Kedarnath is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. After the closure, the idol of the deity will be taken to his winter abode Ukhimath, where it will stay for six months.

Badrinath Dham:

Closure date: November 17, 2023, 9:07 pm.

Description: This temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu houses 15 idols of deities. The closure date was announced on Dussehra, stressing the importance of planning in advance.

Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham:

Gangotri Dham: Will close on November 2, 2023, on the day of Annakut festival.
