It is believed about the Triyuginarayan temple of Uttarakhand that the life of the couple who get married here is improved. Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati were married in this temple. Even today the signs of their marriage are present here. One of the mythological temples, this temple is located in Triyuginarayan village of Uttarakhand. This village is a part of Rudraprayag district. A special feature of this temple is the fire burning inside the temple which has been burning here for centuries. It is believed that Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married considering this fire as a witness. Therefore, this place was named Triyugi, which means, the fire which has been burning here for three ages. As it is located in Agni Narayan temple, it is called the complete Triyuginarayan temple.

In the marriage of Shiva and Parvati, Vishnu Ji became the brother of Parvati. There is a religious belief that in the marriage of Mata Parvati and Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu played the role of the brother of Mata Parvati, and Lord Vishnu himself completed all the rituals performed by a brother in the marriage of his sister. It is said about the pond located in this temple that Lord Vishnu took a bath in this pond before performing the marriage ceremony.

Love proposal of Lord Shiva

It is believed that today's Guptkashi, which is the way to Kedarnath, is the same place where Lord Shiva proposed his love to Goddess Parvati. Guptkashi is situated on the banks of the Mandakini River. Finally, the marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati was completed in the capital Triyuginarayan with the guidance of King Himavat.

History of Triyuginarayan Temple

Mata Parvati pleased Lord Shiva for marriage by doing rigorous penance and Lord Shiva accepted the proposal of Mata Parvati. It is believed that the marriage of Shiva-Parvati was completed in this temple. Lord Vishnu performed his duty as the brother of Goddess Parvati and got her married. Brahma Ji was the priest in this marriage. Shiva-Parvati got married by taking rounds of the fire pit in front of this temple. The flame keeps burning in that fire pit even today. This flame is considered a symbol of Shiva-Parvati marriage, hence this temple is also called Akhand Dhuni Mandir. There are three ponds near the temple. Brahmakund:- Brahma Ji took a bath in this pond before marriage and after taking the bath, he appeared in the marriage. Vishnu kund:- Vishnu Ji took a bath in this pond before marriage. Rudrakund:- All the gods and goddesses present in the marriage took bath in this pond.

Lord Brahmaji acted as the priest in the marriage of Shiva-Parvati and conducted the marriage ceremony of Shiva-Parvati. In this temple, you can see the place where Shiva-Parvati sat during the rounds.

Akhand Dhuni Temple
Devotees who visit here put dry wood in this Akhand Dhuni and take some ashes from the fire as prasad. Therefore, this temple is also called Akhand Dhuni Temple of Uttarakhand. After visiting the temple, devotees also proceed to visit Gauri Kund which is located at a distance of about 5 kilometers from here.
