It has been five days since the journey to Chardham started. Lakhs of devotees are going on the yatra. According to the latest data, more than one lakh devotees have reached Kedarnath Dham in four days alone. There are also reports of deaths of many people during this journey. The causes of death of devotees vary, but most deaths occur due to heart attacks.

There is a question in the minds of people that if a person dies during the Chardham Yatra, does he get compensation or not? According to the information, if any accident happens to the devotees in Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri complexes, they get an insurance cover of up to Rs 1 lakh.

If the pilgrim visiting Chardham has accident insurance, then as per the terms of the policy, the insurance company pays compensation. Along with this, according to the government schemes, financial assistance is also given to the family members of the deceased by the Government of Uttarakhand. To get compensation, first of all the accident has to be reported to the local authorities or police.

Apart from this, there is a need to obtain the death certificate of the deceased. If you do not have accident insurance, you will have to file a claim with the insurance company. Along with this, you can also contact NGOs for help.
