Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple
If you have come to visit Banaras and have not visited Kashi Vishwanath Temple, then your visit is in vain because there is a grand temple of Lord Shiva in Kashi which is known as "Kashi Vishwanath Temple". This temple is located along the river Ganga. This temple is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. Kashi Vishwanath Temple has a special place in Hinduism and it is a temple thousands of years old. According to a belief, one attains salvation by bathing in the Ganges River and visiting Lord Shiva in this temple. Reading our history, it was found that Ahilyabai Holkar built the Kashi Vishwanath Temple on which Maharaja Ranjit Singh of Punjab built a gold umbrella. Queen Baijabai of Gwalior built the pavilion of Gyanvapi and Maharaja Nepal installed a huge Nandi statue there. According to our opinion, along with the darshan of Lord Shiva in Kashi Vishwanath Temple, you must also visit the Annapurna Temple which is built in the same courtyard because it is also included in the places to visit in Varanasi.

Ganga River
The holiest and largest river of Banaras is the Ganges River. Banaras is situated on the banks of this river. This river in itself contains the cultural heritage of our country. Most of the temples of Banaras are located around this river. There are a total of 88 ghats in Banaras which are situated on the banks of the river Ganga. Our devotees and tourists from all over the country and abroad come here to take a bath in the river Ganga. We all know that man is a bundle of mistakes and due to his mistakes, sometimes he commits some sins knowingly or unknowingly. According to the Hindu religion, by just taking a bath in the river Ganga, Mother Ganga washes away all sins. Ganga Aarti was started at Dashashwamedh Ghat in 1991 and since then this Aarti is very famous because the view here at that time is worth seeing. Ganga Aarti is performed every evening. The Ganga Aarti here is world-famous and tourists, big celebrities and VVIPs come from far and wide to see it.

Dashashwamedh Ghat
One of the ghats situated on the banks of the river Ganga in Banaras is Dashashwamedh Ghat, which is considered to be the oldest and also the most beautiful. Dashashwamedh means the sacrifice of ten horses. According to a belief, a very big yagya was performed here and ten horses were sacrificed in it. Out of the 88 ghats of Varanasi, five ghats are considered the most sacred. These five ghats are Assi Ghat, Dashashwamedh Ghat, Adikeshav Ghat, Panchganga Ghat, and Manikarnika Ghat. These ghats are collectively called 'Panchtirth'.

Assi Ghat


This is the same ghat where the Assi River and the Ganges River meet. According to a mythological story, after killing the demon named Shumbh-Nishumbh with her sword, Mother Durga threw that sword here, due to which the Assi River originated. There is a huge Peepal tree on this ghat, under which there is a Shivalinga of Lord Shiva and a temple of Lord Assiangmeshwara, which many devotees come to visit.

Manikarnika Ghat
It is said that after a person dies, he is reborn and this cycle of birth and death continues forever. To get freedom from this cycle of birth and death, it is very important for the soul to get salvation. In Hinduism, Manikarnika Ghat is a place of salvation for Hindus. It is believed that after death, the soul of the person whose body is cremated at Manikarnika Ghat gets salvation and he also gets rid of the cycle of birth and death forever. The fire of the pyre on this ghat never calms down, every time some dead body is being cremated.

Dhamek Stupa
Dhamek Stupa is located in Sarnath, Varanasi. This stupa was built during the time of Emperor Ashoka. It is believed that Dhamek Stupa located in Deer Park is the place where Mahatma Buddha gave his first sermon to his disciples. Dhamek Stupa looks like a solid circular tower. Its diameter is 28.35 meters (93 feet) and its height is 39.01 meters (143 feet).
