1. Domestic flights:

As per the guidelines set by the Reserve Bank of India, passengers are allowed to carry up to ₹ 2 lakh in cash on domestic flights. This amount is generally accepted for personal use.

2. International flights:

For international travel, the rules are different. Passengers traveling to countries other than Nepal and Bhutan can carry foreign currency cash up to US$ 3,000. If you want to bring more than this amount, you will need to use alternative methods such as stored value cards or traveller's cheques.

Baggage restrictions

Checked-in luggage: The maximum allowed weight is usually 30 kg, although this can vary by airline.

Hand luggage: Passengers are usually not allowed to carry hand luggage weighing more than 7 kg.

Prohibited items

It is also important to know about items that are strictly restricted on flights. For example, chemicals such as chlorine, acids and bleach cannot be carried on the plane.
