Indian Railways is a huge network through which lakhs of passengers travel every day. Trains have always been people's first choice for safe and convenient travel. Ticket booking is very important for traveling by railways. Many people book their tickets several months before their journey, while many people book their tickets immediately. However, sometimes such situations arise that people are unable to travel and have to cancel their tickets. If you miss someone's train, you can get a refund for that too. But people are unaware of the rules related to ticket cancellation due to which they are not able to take advantage of it. In such a situation, today we are going to give you important information related to the process of train ticket cancellation and refund. Let us know about them...

How much is charged for canceling a confirmed ticket?
A cancellation charge of Rs 60 per passenger in General Class (2S) will have to be paid 48 hours before the departure time of the train. At the same time, there will be a reduction of Rs 120 in the sleeper class. Whereas a charge of Rs 180 will be deducted for AC chair car and third AC. There will be a reduction of Rs 200 in Second AC, Rs 240 in First AC, and Executive class. Besides, GST will also apply to this.

If you cancel the ticket 12 hours before the departure time, 25 percent of the ticket amount is deducted. At the same time, if you cancel your ticket between 4 hours and 12 hours before the departure time of the train, then half the amount of your ticket is deducted. But, if you are not able to cancel the ticket till 4 hours before the scheduled departure time of the train. So after this, you will not get even a single penny of the refund back.

RAC and Waitlist Ticket Refund Charges
Many times it happens that even after the chart is prepared, your ticket remains on the RAC and waiting list. In such a situation, if you cancel your ticket 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time of the train, then a cancellation charge of Rs 60 will be levied in sleeper class. Whereas in AC class there will be a deduction of Rs 65 and you will get the remaining amount back.

If you have booked online then there is no worry about a refund.

For this, you do not need to do anything. Railways promise 7-8 working days for a refund but usually most people get the refund within 2-3 days.
