The curse of Sadhu Baba Balunath: It is said that at the time of construction of this fort, a Sadhu Baba Balunath lived here. The king took permission from him and promised that the shadow of the fort would never fall on his place. But when the fort was ready, his shadow fell on the sadhu's place, due to which the sadhu got angry and cursed the fort that this fort and the settlement around it would be destroyed.

Princess Ratnavati and Tantrik
According to another story, Princess Ratnavati of Bhangarh was very beautiful. A tantrik Singhia was in love with her. The Tantrik used magic oil to subdue the princess, but the princess understood his trick and threw the oil on a stone. The stone fell on the Tantrik and he died. Before dying, the Tantrik cursed the fort that all the people living here would die soon and their souls would keep wandering here.
