Today, in Shekhasani village of Medta tehsil of Nagaur district of Rajasthan, Jat brothers paid dowry of Rs 13 crore 71 lakh for the marriage of their nephews. This dowry is the biggest dowry ever given in Rajasthan.

It has come to light that a dowry of Rs. 13 crore 71 lakh was paid in a marriage in Shekhasani village of Merta City in Nagaur district of Rajasthan, which is believed to be the biggest dowry ever paid in the entire Marwar (Western Rajasthan). The dowry included cash as well as land papers and gold and silver, which is now being discussed everywhere. This dowry was paid to Santosh, daughter of Ramlal Phadoda, by her father and brother.
In Marwar, the western part of Rajasthan, there is a tradition of paying Mayra in the marriage of sisters' sons and daughters. The word Mayra is derived from maternal uncle. It means paid by maternal uncle or maternal side, in which the maternal grandfather and maternal uncle from maternal side pay Mayra to their sisters and daughters in the marriage of their nephews and nieces and granddaughters, so that they can get financial support in the marriage. This tradition is being followed since the Satyug period. Many folk songs are also sung in Marwar regarding Mayra. Often the prominent people of the village pay the biggest amount in Mayra to maintain their status, so that their status remains in the society, village and district and it is discussed everywhere.
Myra paid at the wedding of sister's sons
Both brothers Ramlal and Tulchharam Phadouda of Baidawadi village of Merta City of Nagaur district together paid the dowry of Rs. 13 crore 71 lakhs. Ramlal Phadouda's daughter Santosh is married to Rajuram Beda, a resident of Shekhasani. The marriage of both the sons of Santosh and Rajuram Beda took place on Wednesday. Both the sons are MBBS and engineering students. In the marriage of Santosh's sons, the dowry was paid before the marriage from Santosh's parents' side. Both brothers Ramlal and Tulchharam Phadouda have only one daughter. Therefore, both of them paid the dowry together. Now this dowry is considered to be the biggest dowry of Marwar.
What was filled in the dowry?
Both brothers Ramlal and Tulchharam Phadoda are farmers by profession. Both work together. After such a huge dowry was paid by the farmer family, it has become a topic of discussion everywhere. The dowry of Rs. 13 crore 71 lakh includes cash as well as gold and silver. It includes Rs. 1 crore 31 lakh in cash, 6 plots of land whose value is being told to be around Rs. 5 crore 25 lakh. Also, 80 bigha farmland, whose value is being told to be Rs. 5 crore. It includes gold jewellery weighing 1 kg 60 grams, 5 kg silver, an SUV luxury car, a tractor and clothes worth Rs. 15 lakh.
Recently, a dowry of 8 crores was paid
Every day, there are reports of dowry of crores of rupees being paid in the western region. In the last three years, there have been reports of dowry of crores of rupees being paid in more than a dozen dowry. Recently, dowry of eight crore rupees was paid in Dhigsara of Nagaur district. After this, it was considered as the biggest dowry of Marwar, but now both the brothers Ramlal and Tulchharam Phadoda have broken the previous record by paying dowry of 13 crore 71 lakhs.
