While other smart rings rely on signals, this device is designed to capture the body's constantly changing chemical information.
How will this ring work?
Tamoghna Saha, part of the research team behind this ring, explained that commercial rings only provide biophysical information. They don't provide the molecular information of biochemical markers that can provide in-depth insights into a person's health. Furthermore, the user doesn't need to exercise or work out to use this ring. Even when we're resting, a little moisture emanates from our fingers. This ring can capture that moisture and perform its function. The ring is equipped with an electrochemical sensor that measures molecules in sweat. The electronic signals are then converted into estimated concentrations using a calibration factor developed for each user.
What will be the benefit of this ring?
Researchers stated that this ring can capture dynamic molecular information in real time, which will be very helpful in making decisions related to health, diet, and lifestyle. The ring can continuously and simultaneously track glucose and ketone levels. Using this information, diabetic patients can determine the insulin dose they need. During trials, the ring performed with the same accuracy as commercial glucose meters and blood ketone meters.
This ring is a mobile lab
