Rajnath Singh on Trump Tariff: The 50 percent tariff imposed by US President Donald Trump on India is being discussed all over the world. Amidst Trump's tariff threats, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has given a big statement. He has said that there is no permanent friend or enemy. 

Rajnath Singh said at the NDTV Defence Summit 2025 that in the changing global conditions, India will have to keep its national interests paramount. He further said that today's world is changing rapidly and new challenges are emerging every day. The Defense Minister said, 'Whether it is a pandemic, terrorism or regional conflict, this century has proved to be the most unstable and challenging so far.'

Self-reliance is no longer an option; it is a necessity: Rajnath

Emphasising self-reliance, the Defence Minister said, "Today, self-reliance has become not just a benefit but a necessity. Earlier, it was considered a privilege; now it is imperative for our survival and progress." He further said that India does not consider anyone an enemy, but the interests of farmers and entrepreneurs are most important.

The Defence Minister said that changing geopolitics has made it clear that external dependence in the defence sector is no longer an option. He said that in 2014, India's defence exports were less than ₹ 700 crore, while today it has reached about ₹ 24,000 crore. This means that India is no longer just a buyer, but is also becoming a defence producer and exporter.

Precise operation with indigenous equipment: Defense Minister

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, emphasising the capability of the army, said, 'Our forces carried out precision strikes on targets with indigenous equipment, which shows that foresight, long preparation and coordination are essential for the success of any mission.'

Referring to Operation Sindoor , Rajnath Singh said that it was not a battle of just a few days, but there was a long history of years of strategic preparation and defense preparations behind it. He said, 'Just like a player wins a race in a few seconds, but there is months and years of hard work behind it, in the same way our forces took effective action on selected targets with years of preparation, hard work and indigenous equipment.'
