Audio and video calling options have arrived on WhatsApp

There's good news for those waiting for audio and video calling on WhatsApp Web. The company has started rolling out this feature to beta users, meaning it will soon be available to other users. Until now, the company only offered audio and video calling options through its official desktop app, but now it will be available on the web version as well. It's worth noting that users have been demanding this feature for a long time. 

Currently only one to one calling option

According to media reports, WhatsApp Web will initially offer one-to-one calling options, while users will have to wait a little longer for group calls. The company has been working on this feature for nearly a year. Now, the web version will function just like the desktop app. Beta users who have rolled out this feature say it's incredibly easy to use. They simply need to go to WhatsApp Web and click the call button. There's no need to download any additional software to use this feature.

Screen sharing option will also be available

During video calls on WhatsApp Web, users will also have the option of screen sharing. This option is already available on the mobile app. This means that if you have a meeting at work, you won't need Google Meet or Microsoft Teams. You can now make a video call and share your screen directly from WhatsApp Web. This feature will become even more powerful with the introduction of group calling. 

Desktop app is needed now

You can enjoy chatting, audio, and video calling from the WhatsApp mobile app. However, if you want to make voice or video calls from a desktop or laptop, you currently need to install the WhatsApp app. With the new feature, this requirement will be removed, and calling will be possible directly from the web version.
