A girl has won the hearts of internet users by outsmarting a UPI scammer as she used her brain before falling into the trap. The short clip has garnered over 2 lakh views and was shared by the user @gharkekalesh.
It all started with a call from a scammer who introduced himself as the girl's "father's friend" and claimed to have paid Rs 12,000 via UPI on her phone.
She said, "I don't know. Papa hasn't told me anything." To this, she replied: "He must be busy." After this, the man confirmed whether she should make the transaction on the same number and sent her Rs 10 to gain her trust. As soon as a 'bank notification' popped up, the girl immediately recognised that it was fake. This was followed by a transaction of Rs 10,000. Then, he said he would send Rs 2,000 but sent Rs 20,000 by mistake. When the girl told him that she had sent him Rs 20,000, he asked her to return the remaining Rs 18,000 via UPI. He read out a number while the girl smiled in the background. What he did next was not only funny but also hilarious as he copied the 'fake' bank message, changed the amount to Rs 18,000 and sent it to her.
The scammer was shocked by the girl's action and softly said: "Got the money. I agreed." In the comments section of the post, social media users praised the young girl, saying: "This is great presence of mind." Another commented, "Very smart girl with a great IQ." Many others said they had similar experiences. One user said, "I got this call twice."
