Islamabad: Ceasefire is in place between India and Pakistan. This is a favour from India, otherwise Pakistan would have been searching for itself in the rubble by now. But, despite accepting defeat, Pakistan is threatening to attack India. Now again Pakistan has tried to provoke India.
In fact, in an interview to Sky News, the Director General (DG) of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, warned that if India violated the ceasefire, the response would be “swift and certain”. He irresponsibly said that the growing tension between the two countries could lead to “mutual destruction”. There are nuclear-armed countries on both sides.
no third person is needed
Chaudhary again tried to raise the Kashmir issue on the international platform. He claimed that Kashmir is a disputed issue between India, Pakistan and China. According to the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, it should be resolved as per the wishes of the Kashmiri people. India has always rejected this claim, saying that Kashmir is its integral part. There is no scope for any third party mediation on this.
The wishes of the Kashmiri people….
Chaudhary said, "Peace between India and Pakistan is not possible until the Kashmir issue is resolved according to the wishes of the Kashmiri people. This is the unfinished agenda of the 1947 partition." He accused India of creating a false narrative of being a "victim of terrorism" and appealed to the international community to stop India from doing so.
India pretends to be a victim of terrorism
Chaudhary said, "India calls Kashmir an internal issue year after year by making the excuse of being a victim of terrorism, which is wrong." He also added, "Whoever violates our territorial integrity and sovereignty, our response will be strong." However, he also claimed that Pakistan wants peace and its people are celebrating "not victory, but peace" on the streets.
Absurd statement after ceasefire
The statement comes at a time when a fragile ceasefire came into effect between the two countries on May 10. The ceasefire came after Operation Sindoor launched by India following the terror attack in Pahalgam in April and subsequent retaliation by Pakistan. 26 tourists were killed in the attack, for which India blamed Pakistan. After this, both the countries carried out drone and missile attacks, which worsened the situation.
It is clear from this statement that Pakistan is trying to put pressure on India by bringing Kashmir to the international platform. But this strategy can further increase the tension between the two countries. India has made it clear that it will not accept any third party mediation on Kashmir and will continue its action against terrorism. This situation remains a big challenge in the way of peace between the two countries.
