RCB has made a strong move ahead of the IPL 2025 playoffs by adding a new player to their squad — a player famously known for tormenting Pakistan’s bowling attack. New Zealand’s explosive wicketkeeper-batter Tim Seifert has officially joined the Royal Challengers Bangalore as a replacement for Jacob Bethell, who has returned to England for national duties.
Tim Seifert’s Contract Value at RCB
RCB confirmed Seifert’s inclusion via an official press release, stating that he has been signed for ₹2 crore. He becomes the second addition to the RCB squad ahead of the playoffs, following Zimbabwean pacer Blessing Muzarabani.
Why Is Seifert Feared by Pakistan?
Tim Seifert earned his reputation as a “Pakistan tormentor” during a recent T20I series held in New Zealand earlier this year. In a five-match series in March 2025, Seifert was instrumental in New Zealand’s triumph over Pakistan. He scored a series-high 249 runs at an average of over 62, with a strike rate exceeding 200.
His brutal hitting saw him smash 22 sixes and 20 fours, dismantling the Pakistani bowling lineup and becoming the standout performer of the series. That extraordinary run earned him the nickname of the man who made “Pakistan cry tears of blood.”
A T20 Veteran Joins RCB
Tim Seifert brings with him a wealth of T20 experience. Apart from international cricket, he has played in several top leagues including the PSL, ILT20, BBL, CPL, LPL, T20 Blast, and previously in the IPL for Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders. This stint with RCB marks his third IPL franchise.
According to RCB, Seifert is expected to join the team by May 24, in time to potentially feature in the crucial playoff matches.
