Government gives update on 8th Pay Commission
8th Pay Commission Latest Update: Central government employees and pensioners are eagerly awaiting the 8th Pay Commission. Meanwhile, an important update has now emerged regarding the 8th Pay Commission for central government employees. In response to a question in the Rajya Sabha, the government stated that the commission has already been formally constituted. Its notification was issued on November 3, 2025.
The Finance Ministry also clarified in a written response on Tuesday that the commission will submit its recommendations within the stipulated timeframe. Rajya Sabha MPs had asked the government what issues the 8th Pay Commission would review and when its recommendations would be implemented. The government responded...
The government gave information
Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary informed the Rajya Sabha that the government will review the salaries, allowances, and pension conditions of employees and pensioners under the 8th Pay Commission. He further stated that the commission will submit its recommendations within the stipulated timeframe.
It should be noted that the Commission has been given 18 months to submit its report. This clearly indicates that the Commission will submit its report to the government in 2027. Further action will be taken by the government only after the recommendations are received. This means that central employees may have to wait a long time for the Eighth Pay Commission.
The picture is still not clear on the increased expenditure due to the Pay Commission.
MPs also raised a key question related to the 8th Pay Commission: how much additional burden will be placed on the government budget if its recommendations are implemented. The government clarified that it is currently impossible to accurately estimate this cost.
According to the government, the actual financial impact cannot be assessed until the Commission submits its report and receives its approval. This means that the entire budget plan will only be prepared after the Commission's final report is received.
