Sweets is Harmful for Health: Consuming sweet and fatty foods can have a bad effect on brain health. Eating too much sweet and fatty foods has a very bad effect on health. This can also weaken memory.

Sweet Side Effect: Research has found that eating too much fatty and sweet food has a bad effect on the brain. In a research, scientists from Sydney University tried to find out what effect high fat and sugary food (especially refined sugar and saturated fat) has on our brain's ability to recognize directions. This is called spatial navigation, which is the ability to remember the way from one place to another. It tells how healthy the part of your brain called hippocampus is. This research has been published in the International Journal of Obesity.
What are the disadvantages of eating sweets?
This research was led by Dr. Dominic Tran. He said that the habit of eating fatty and sweet food can weaken some abilities of the brain, especially the part that is related to direction and memory. The good thing is that this effect is not permanent. According to Dr. Tran, if we improve our diet, then our brain starts working well again. Like recognizing the way to a new place or remembering a new route.
This research included 55 university students aged between 18 and 38 years. They were asked how much fat and sugar-rich food they eat. Then their weight, memory and mental orientation were tested. In this test, they were placed in a virtual reality maze, where they had to find a treasure box. In the experiment, people had to find this treasure box six times. There were some special things around the maze, with the help of which people could remember their way. Every time the experiment was done, the starting point and the location of the treasure box were the same.
It is necessary to improve the diet
If participants found the treasure within 4 minutes, the next round began. If they did not find the treasure within that time, they were immediately transported to the treasure location and given 10 seconds to examine the location thoroughly before the next round.
Students who ate food with less fat and less sugar were more accurate in identifying the location of the treasure. Dr. Tran said that it was observed that students who ate more sugar and fat performed poorly. This makes it clear that if we improve our diet, we can keep our brain sharp and healthy.
Eating fat and sugar is the cause of many diseases
Scientists already know that eating too much fat and sugar can lead to obesity, heart disease and some cancers. Now it is also becoming clear that this habit also harms the brain, and that too at a young age. Dr. Tran said, "This research shows that good eating is important not only for the body but also for the brain health. Especially in youth, when our brain works best."
