2 big titles in about 10 months. Team India, which returned empty handed from every country, every tournament for 11 years, is finally making up for those missed opportunities. After winning the T20 World Cup in June last year, Team India has now won the Champions Trophy as well. Also, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have made it clear that they are not going to retire yet. In such a situation, now every fan is dreaming that both of them make Team India champions in the future as well and in the coming two and a half years, both the legends are going to get these opportunities.
Rohit and Virat, who have witnessed every heartbreaking defeat of Team India together for the last several years, are now living their dreams. Both of them have together won two big titles in the last 10 months. Not only did they win, but both of them played big roles in putting those trophies in their bag. This has further increased the hunger of both these legends and both these legends are wishing to play for at least the next two-and-a-half years.
Opportunities to win 2 titles in two and a half years
Talking about the next two and a half years, Team India has to play three major ICC tournaments in this period. It will start with the T20 World Cup 2026 next year. However, Rohit and Virat will not be a part of it because after becoming champions last year, Virat and Rohit retired from this format. But in 2027, both of them will have two big opportunities. The first chance in this is the World Test Championship, which will start this year itself and its final will be played in 2027.
Team India made it to the first and second finals of the Test Championship but had to face defeat both times. Once this defeat was faced under Kohli's captaincy and the second time under Rohit's captaincy. For the third time, Team India could not qualify for this final. In such a situation, both will have a chance to win it in the fourth attempt. However, looking at the recent form of both in red ball cricket, this seems to be the most difficult.
But in 2027, the ODI World Cup will also be organized, which will be played in South Africa. Looking at the age of Rohit and Virat, questions are being raised whether these two giants will be able to survive till this tournament. However, both have given the answer with the bat and statements in the Champions Trophy. In such a situation, both have a chance to win these two titles, which seems a bit difficult but cannot be denied considering the ability and performance in big tournaments.
Team India will play 27 ODIs
Now the question is, how many matches will both of them get to play before the World Cup 2027? If Rohit and Virat play only ODI format in future, then both of them can play 27 ODI matches till the World Cup. These 27 matches are divided into 9 different series, which will be played in different countries apart from India, out of which 3 are to be held this year.
