Stephen Fleming has been appointed head coach of the England Test cricket team, replacing Brendon McCullum.

Stephen Fleming has been appointed head coach of the England Test cricket team. Fleming recently left the IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings. Fleming will replace Brendon McCullum as England's Test coach. The ECB removed McCullum from the coaching position following England's recent series defeat against New Zealand. Along with Fleming, the ECB has also appointed Joe Root as the new Test captain.

It's worth noting that Brendon McCullum was only removed from his position as Test coach. McCullum remains the coach of England's ODI and T20 teams. Stephen Fleming, like him, also hails from New Zealand and has been associated with the Chennai Super Kings franchise for the past 19 years. He played for the team in 2008 and has been serving as coach of the CSK franchise since 2009. However, on July 13th of this year, Fleming left the Chennai team.

Stephen Fleming's first major challenge as Test coach will be the series against Pakistan. The three-match Test series between England and Pakistan begins on August 19th.

According to the statement issued by the ECB, after becoming the coach, Stephen Fleming said, "I am very excited to join the England cricket team as Test coach. This is one of the most prestigious coaching positions in world cricket and I feel honored to be appointed to this position."

Stephen Fleming retired from international cricket in 2008. He scored 7,172 runs in 111 Test matches for New Zealand, and 8,037 runs in 280 ODIs. Fleming also represented New Zealand in five T20 matches.
