The final Team India squad for the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023 has been announced, in which the playing XI has been decided under the captaincy of captain Rohit Sharma. However, Ravichandran Ashwin has replaced a star who was bowled at the last moment in the team.

R Ashwin has replaced all-rounder bowler Axar Patel in India's World Cup squad at the last moment. Patel was kept in the temporary squad and performed well in the Asia Cup 2023, but now experienced fast bowler Ashwin will replace him.

Axar Patel was included in Rohit Sharma's team before the Asia Cup 2023, but he got injured during the tournament and hence he has been replaced by R Ashwin. Ashwin has already reached Guwahati along with the rest of the national team players, where they have to play the first practice match against England on September 30.

Team India World Cup Team Playing 11

Rohit Sharma (captain), Hardik Pandya (vice-captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav

It is expected that the bowler may be out of action for at least three weeks due to the injury suffered by Axar Patel during the Asia Cup match against Bangladesh on September 15. The decision not to include him in the final squad came at the last minute.

This will be the third time that R Ashwin has been included in the ODI World Cup squad so far, this is the second time that he is playing the tournament on home ground. Ashwin was in Team India's winning team in 2011 and again in 2015, but he was ignored by the selectors in 2019.
