Former Indian cricketer Farooq Engineer has made a big statement regarding the comparison between Test cricket and IPL. He has said that most people in world cricket are jealous of IPL. It makes him feel good, but Test cricket cannot be compromised for this tournament. Economically strong countries like India, England, and Australia are committed to Test cricket, but players from smaller countries are choosing to play in franchise leagues around the world, as T20 leagues fetch more money.

Farokh Engineer said, “It is not a good thing for Test cricket to be in danger. That is why the World Test Championship is a demonstration to the world that Test cricket can be as interesting as limited-overs cricket. It is a game of chess based on circumstances. This is the ultimate test for the batsmen. There should be space for both Test and limited overs cricket."

The final of the Test Championship is being played at The Oval, where India won its first Test in England in 1971. Engineer played a big part in that crucial victory, scoring 59 in the first innings. The engineer feels that it is necessary to move with the times. Because of this, he closely follows the game of cricket, including T20 leagues around the world.

Farooq Engineer played cricket when cricketers used to earn Rs 50 a day, but he couldn't be happier that the current generation is earning lakhs in IPL.

Engineer, one of the few Parsi cricketers to have played for India, said, "India has taken the lead in Test cricket, and in limited overs cricket we have the IPL which is the envy of the world. Indian cricket is in control of things." and it makes me very happy. I watch cricket all the time. It's in my blood. Cricket is an Indian game that was accidentally invented by the British. I think the game was equally popular then, But with T20 it has spread to different places.

"There is a lot of money in IPL. We used to get Rs 50 a day for a five-day Test match. I remember batting with Sunil Gavaskar, we would get 15-20 runs in four and a half hours a day," he recalled a funny incident. We were getting messages from the dressing room that Don't finish the game today, we will lose one day's allowance." We didn't play for money, we played for pride."

Time for Gill to become like Virat
Engineer is a fan of Virat Kohli and feels that he is back to his best after a stellar IPL season. He has also seen young Shubman Gill's rapid rise in international cricket over the last 12 months. He feels the two batsmen have shown that the shortest format is not just about playing big shots. He said, "It is too early to talk about Gill's successor as Virat has a few good years left in him. He has nothing to prove now, as he has been a brilliant player and captain for India." He remains the best in the world. Gill is a very good batsman and is in the best form of his career and I am sure he will do well in Tests as well. Gill has proved that T20 cricket is all about playing big shots And you can play in the traditional style as well."

When asked about his prediction about the Test Championship final, Engineer gave an emotional reply saying, "As an Indian, I always want to see my team win."

There was no warm-up match before the title clash, which could have been "useful" for both teams. The engineer replied, "Warm-up matches are always useful, but they play too much cricket these days."
